The sulfite pulp mill was in operation between 1908 and 1943. During the late 40's
production switched to a chemical industry mainly for the utilization of by-products from pulp.
All production was discontinuend in 1984.

The plant was virtually untouched for more than two decades before local youth and metal scavangers started to tare down the old mill.

Today the decay is massive and demolition of the industrial area is planned.

The area is classified as one of the most polluted places in Sweden
