While researching interesting attractions in Jarabacoa, home of MotoCaribe.com's Camp Moto, friend and filmmaker Pedro Bros hooked us up with Flying Tony, a local outfit that does parasailing off Jamaca de Dios ("God's Hammock"; in Jarabacoa, there is an expression: "God is everywhere, but he sleeps in Jarabacoa."). Pedro has flown with them. We've seen parasailers and paramotors flying off the mountain for several years and always wanted to check it out.
We drove to the landing zone below Jamaca de Dios to check them out, and Alida got offered a chance to take a tandem flight...and leaped at the opportunity.
Jamaca de Dios is 2500' above Jarabacoa in the mountainous central area known as the Dominican Alps here in the Dominican Republic.
We didn't have our video equipment but was able to document most of it with my Motorola Defy+ phone.
Special thanks to Pedro and Tony for Alida's most excellent adventure.
I'm fairly sure Alida didn't think she'd go flying today when she woke up.
