Born in 1932 in Darwin to first generation Chinese immigrants, Winnie Forday spent her early childhood divided between Hong Kong and Darwin.
These are her stories and reflections of her life from a tumultuous childhood with her father's second wife to her marriage to Alby, an "Aussie sounding Chinese cowboy" she met in her father's restaurant.
A marriage that produced five children and now many grandchildren all of whom she is immensely proud.
This documentary was commissioned by Winnie's family originally as a simple biography of her life but over time it grew into a labour of love and evolved into what you see here. In hindsight I would have approached the whole thing differently and shot a lot more supplementary footage but overall it fulfilled the brief and the family were pleased.
