Lori Rich hits the streets of Riverside every day looking for homeless people with pets. She runs a non-profit organization called "Taking It To the Streets". She says, "To me, the animals have no voice. Even if the people choose to be out here the animals don't make that choice, the people make it for them and I feel it's important that if they're out here, somebody is watching out for them."
Lori always comes loaded with all kinds of goodies for dogs, cats and humans. The people we spoke with say she is a Godsend. "All of us really appreciate what she does for the dogs because she doesn't have to. She cares, she hugs, kisses them and brings goodies. She's a really nice lady," said a woman who has been homeless for 6 years.
So far, Lori has also paid for 43 dogs and cats to be spayed, neutered, licensed and microchipped. Her goal is to stop the pet over population in the homeless community.
