This video is the first volume of a series that captures the contributions of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people to world history and culture. It will be used in mostly academic settings to educate LGBT and straight youth who are forced to grow up without historically significant LGBT role models. This is especially important for those who may be struggling with self-esteem issues or anti-gay bullying in their schools. Future volumes will expand on this theme by presenting specific collections of individuals based on demography or detailing specific arcs of history. This video was produced by the Legacy Project, a Chicago-based 501(c)3 Cultural/Educational non-profit which manages "The Legacy Walk" - the only outdoor LGBT museum walk in the world - and "The Legacy Wall" - a digitally interactive traveling installation. The Legacy Project Education Initiative (LPEI) uses a cloud-based NFC technology interface to make education resources and multimedia available in real time on smartphones to those who explore the Legacy Wall and the Legacy Walk.
