Designers Inbetween is a documentary about creative startup scene in Hong Kong.
The designers inbetween the east and the west.
Designers Inbetween was born out of the personal interest of three young designers towards China and Asia. Living in Hong Kong at the time, UK based Jonny Ramalho and Finnish designers Oliver Lehtonen and Miiro Seppänen set out to interview as many designers as possible before their visas expired. From the extensive material they gathered, they created a compelling storyline of how to start and sustain a business in Hong Kong: What are the advantages and the challenges international designers face in one of the world´s financial capitals and the gateway to world´s manufacturing in China.
Documentary features 20 designers from the fields of product design, graphic design & branding, fashion design, design education and architecture. Among the interviewees is David Ericsson, the founder of successful Void Watches; Roger Ball, professor of product design and author of Design Direct – How To Create Your Own Microbrand and founders of fashion label Tangram, Paola Sinisterra and Ignacio Garcia.
Documentary is currently in post-production and will be released in the spring of 2014.
