For decades, the legendary Doolittle Tokyo Raiders held a bottle of Hennessy cognac from 1896 - the year of Jimmy Doolittle's birth - to be opened for a special toast when only two of the original 80 raiders remained. Their ranks rapidly thinning, the Raiders decided to open the bottle of cognac while three could still attend, ensuring that this special toast would take place. The toast took place on November 9, 2013 at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, Ohio, at the exact same time as the 2013 American Veterans Center Honors in Washington, DC. The Honors joined the Raiders in this very special moment, in a tribute to the three who took part in the toast, and the Raiders who have passed.
