Preventative Medicine: Yoga for Relaxation. Disease Treatment: Specific Applications for respiratory disorders, arthritis/joint pain. A presentation by C. Rajan Narayanan, Ph.D., Executive Director, Life in Yoga Institute is one of the founders and inspiration behind the formation of the Life in Yoga. He has developed the Life in Yoga approach which includes exercising aspects, food and life habits and methods of healing. The Life in Yoga 5 by 3 by 1 Approach is based on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. He has also recently completed a book with a new translation and commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Techniques developed include CRE breath, Dance Yoga, Chandogya Upanishad Meditation technique and several mudras like the AtmaVyakta Mudra, BrahmaVyakta Mudra, etc. He has studied Yoga techniques from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s Institute, Satchidananda Ashram of Yogaville (Virginia), and Swami Bua of New York. He is also a Reiki master and Pranic Healer and has been trained by Dr. Vasantha Krishnaswamy of Chennai, India. Dr. Narayanan has been teaching yoga in the Washington DC area since January 1998. In December 2009, SVYASA (Vivekananda Univ) honored him for his innovative and original contributions in the field of yoga.
