This video showcases the concept of Long-term Localization with LIDAR [see iabaldwin.com/publications.html]. Highlighted in the video is the urban setting used to test the system (a town in Oxfordshire, UK), around which over a hundred kilometers of data was analyzed.
The localization mechanism uses an information-theoretic approach to localization that proves to be robust in the face of large scene (i.e. map) changes over the period analyzed (more than a year).
