The Warm Waters Show Down presented by Fatal Clothing went down November 30, 2013. There has not been a pro surf event at Warm Waters since 1989. All the locals came out to show their skillz in the 2-4 foot crispy nuggets that were leftover from a swell that had come through the day before.
The event was open to 32 competitors. There were no slouches at this event. Every heat could have been a final, but it came down local favorites - Gabe Garcia, Brent Riley, and Julian Ganguli that made the final with Geoff Brack from Ventura.
Gabe Garcia surfed so well that nobody could touch him, which was pretty much the case all day and earned him the first place $500 prize. Julian Ganguli didn't go down with out a fight and took a modest second place with $250 in pocket change. Brent and Geoff had a tough last round with the waves not in their favor. Brent left with the third place $150 and Geoff with the 4th place $100.
Over all it was a fun and exciting event that kept spectators hanging out all day cheering for their favorites. With summer like weather and fun waves this event left everyone feeling stoked.
Thanks to all the people that made this happen! Big thanks to:
Phil Antonopoulos, The Crew at Fatal Clothing, Ulises Thomas, the judges, State Beach Locals,
