Henning - better known as 'Chook' - Kath arrived on Mount Leonard station in 1989 as a young jackaroo.
He has been managing the 1.9 million acre property for the past 11 years. It's home to him, his wife Lorraine and three kids Cassie, Leah and Jacob.
Mount Leonard is next to the abandoned town of Betoota, 170 kilometres East of Birdsville. It's isolated and often very dry. According to Chook, it takes a special person to live in such a remote location.
"If you can live here, you can live anywhere," he says.
We're talking about a place where temperatures reach close to 50 at least every year.
But they love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
I spent some time with the family on the station in September and documented a day in their life, through the eyes of Chook.
