TRIPLE MURDER SUICIDE CABIN AT AN UNDISCLOSED LOCATION IN THE KERN RIVER VALLEY
Investigation: June 23, 2013

HISTORY:
This historic cabins earliest known use was in the 1860s when the widow Digman used the location to prepare & serve meals for local miners. Over the years numerous families lived in the cabin compound. Sometime in the 1880s the Walker family purchased the property and the adjacent mine. The family lived in it for decades. In 1924 it was the scene of a grizzly triple murder suicide. Apparently, during a card game gone wrong, Newt Walker & two other men were murdered in or around the cabin by Tom Walker, Newt's own brother. Tom’s body was found in the nearby family gold mine with a self inflicted gunshot being the apparent cause of death. Long time cabin curator Ted Brummer recalled hearing some anomalous sounds on occasion but never attributed any of that to paranormal activity. The site has been vacant for some time and had not been investigated before. GRIT could find no previous reports of paranormal activity. The site was chosen for its long history and the notorious triple murder suicide that occurred at the site.
