This is a clip from a larger project entitled "TeXt." The project seeks to distill fixed texts into 3D images and videos. Is Moby Dick a story about the Whale or is it about a general seething state of revenge?
Our conception of a text is both monolithic and linear. The act of "reading" indicates a narrative flow that must be experienced in time, yet there is an equal pull toward remembrance of the monolith.
This project uses Processing (processing.org) to parse raw text novels and derive 3d images and videos to express the thematic structures in an abstract manner akin to our memory. "Memory" represents the pinnacle in the conflict between "bias," "expectation," and "experience."
Special thanks to Guy Yitzhaki's code for some of the initial text parsing code.
