V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. On July 8, 2013, V-Day launched its global campaign “ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE – 2014” – global call to women and girls survivors of violence to gather safely in community places where they deserve to feel safe but too often do not.
AMAL Human Development Network has been an active member of the V-Day movement in Pakistan for over a decade, and is now calling out to survivors to break the silence and release their stories – politically, spiritually, through art, dance, songs and testimonials. AMAL, in collaboration with different organizations and educational institutions, has planned several events / readings / panel discussions over the next few months where we would like to invite you all, and encourage you to undertake initiatives / actions for ending all forms of violence against women and girls.
About the Play:
“A MEMORY, A MONOLOGUE, A RANT & A PRAYER”
A compilation by Eve Ensler, Obie Award-winner and founder of V Day movement.
A groundbreaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler and Mollie Doyle and commissioned by V-Day for the first V-Day: UNTIL THE VIOLENCE STOPS festival, which took place June 2006 in New York City.
These writings are inspired, funny, angry, heartfelt, tragic, and beautiful. Together they create a true and profound portrait of how violence against women affects every one of us. A MEMORY, A MONOLOGUE, A RANT, AND A PRAYER is a call to the world to demand an end to violence against women.
