This video is the result of my storm hunting efforts during the past 3 years. The most common approach for photographing lightning is by using long exposures during the night. The photo locations are Ikaria island, Kos island and Athens, Greece. Lightning photography can be fascinating but dangerous as well. I will repeat here something I wrote at my lightning photography tutorial: greeksky.gr/nightskyphotography/photographlightning/
Photographing lightning is a unique challenge for many photographers but your life is worth much more than even the best photo. Lightning can travel along metal fences, power and phone lines, or even through the ground to you. You are not safe under doorways, carports and especially trees! If the storm is near you, set the camera to take continuous shots with an intervalometer and then seek shelter inside a car or a building.
