Moderated by CDP President & CEO Robert G. Ottenhoff, Hurricanes in the Southeast and the 2013 Hurricane Season Forecast, will explore the fundamentals of hurricanes and how two seasoned foundation leaders have prepared, planned, and responded to hurricanes.
The 60-minute webinar will feature panelists Lori J. Bertman, President & CEO of the Irene W. and CB Pennington Foundation and Mark Brewer, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Central Florida. Also on the panel will be Gerry Bell, a hurricane climate specialist and research meteorologist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He will provide a 101 on what national disasters can be expected in our region as well as a forecast of this year’s hurricane season.
During this session, Mr. Ottenhoff and the panel will:
Provide an overview of hurricanes and the 2013 hurricane season forecast
-Discuss how philanthropy can prepare, plan, and respond to hurricanes, drawing on personal experiences from foundation leaders in our region
-Impart principles for developing a sound philanthropic response to the needs presented by devastating hurricanes, before, during, and after a storm hits.
-Robert Ottenhoff will engage participants in a conversation on how private philanthropy can prepare itself for this hurricane season, support the needs of its community, and learn from professionals who have been called to respond to the needs of devastating storms.
