The Last One Standing Movie takes you inside the heart of the last remaining indigenous forest in Ethiopia, as it explores the environmental, economic, and human effects deforestation has on the people of Ethiopia and the World.
We learn that forests play a vital role in the livelihood of Ethiopia and can also affect so many more around the World. From the enormous damages removal of trees has on the ozone, to drought caused by disruptions in the water cycle, to the effects this issue has on the agriculture-based economy, and to the millions who use the forest’s resources to live, we learn that the forest isn’t just a forest … it is deeply rooted in the fibers that make up Ethiopia.
The film begins to open the door to a vision of a sustainable relationship between humans and forests. That through a change in public attitude, commercial and local practices, and updated policies it is actually possible to begin reversing the damages done to the land and build for a long-term future.
