The City of Gold Coast’s Lifeguards are gearing up for their busiest time of the year.
The combination of summer, school holidays and peak timing for overseas visitors, will see thousands more people taking to our beautiful beaches over the next two months.
They’ll be in good hands though, with the largest and most experienced professional lifeguard service in Australia patrolling 38 Gold Coast beaches.
Leading the charge are veteran Gold Coast Lifeguards Warren Young and Peter Miller, who were today thanked by Mayor Tom Tate for 40 years of outstanding service to the City.
Warren Young said during his 40 years working as a Lifeguard, the Service had worked with volunteer Surf Life Savers to provide a beach safety coverage now unmatched in Australia.
Remember…. swim only between the flags, check with lifeguards or lifesavers about conditions, don’t swim after consuming alcohol and put your hand up and stay calm if you get into trouble in the water.
