Listen to a recording of the Thursday, April 13, 2023 Sepsis Innovation Collaborative (SIC) webinar introducing its new Sepsis Data Community, along with an overview of SIC efforts to date to advance the data needs of the sepsis stakeholder community.
The public health, economic, and social burden of sepsis is evident. Sepsis Innovation Collaborative (SIC) brings together patients, innovators, regulators, scientists, researchers, caregivers, and public health professionals to address opportunities accelerate innovation in sepsis and infection management. Most of these opportunities depend on analyses of detailed biologic, genetic, and other clinical datasets to understand and unravel the complex underlying etiology of sepsis. However, few of these datasets are connected to one another, limiting the ability to analyze broad, representational data. Furthermore, these datasets lack the richness of data required to assess the relative effectiveness of various biomarkers, predictive algorithms, or other emerging strategies.
Understanding, preventing, tracking, and treating sepsis, and supporting sepsis survivors, demands a deep, longitudinal view of patient-specific characteristics. The data should include biometric, demographic, clinical, and genomic information from and across public health agencies, hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, first responders, and patients and survivors themselves. Clinical, lab, pharmacy, pathology, genetic, demographic, claims, and patient-reported data are also each critical for a more comprehensive understanding of sepsis. Join us on April 13 to learn more and get involved.
