The inability to finance secondary education, National Health Insurance, and business or farm growth leads to a cycle of poverty for rural communities in Ghana.
Global Brigades has established six community lead development funds (or community banks) in the Central Region of Ghana to help combat this issue. By teaching financial literacy, assessing a family's savings and loans opportunities, and identifying potential businesses in the community, microfinance volunteers help families to save and make effective use of their available resources.
