On November 26th 2013, the RDR, in partnership with the Art Gallery of Mississauga, offered its last Tough Questions Café of the year. The panelists included Linda Thomas of the Mississauga Arts Council, Tina Chu of the Art Gallery of Mississauga and Gular Mustafa, an independent artist. The discussion centred around the following questions: What is Canadian art? Do art forms and artistic expressions from other cultures, ethnicities and diverse groups fit into the Canadian art denomination? Do the arts have to be inclusive of all people? Who decides what is Canadian art? How receptive are audiences to artistic works from non-conventional sources? Do artists feel included and free to express their cultural identity?
