This year on Thanksgiving Day my girlfriend, two friends and I hiked down the Grandview Trail for 3 days and 2 nights of exploring and enjoying the Grand Canyon.
Day 1: Hiked from Grandview Trail Head to Cottonwood Creek (5 miles roughly). Also explored Cave of the Domes on Horseshoe Mesa before heading down to camp.
Day 2: Hiked West along the Tonto Trail to a little traveled route down to the River (The Old Grandview Trail). It was rough, kind of exposed, and awesome. We also 4 female big horn sheep which was great.
Day 3: After fresh eggs (that's right!) and a slow morning we hiked back out the same trail, working our way up fresh snow to our car in on the South Rim.
It was an amazing time in my favorite place on Earth. Winter is such a special time in Grand Canyon. The snow adds a whole new dimension to the Canyon and usually scares away a large amount of the summer crowds. This area of Grand Canyon happens to be a personal favorite as well.
