Shot this Super 8 film in September 2013 at the Oklahoma State Fair in Oklahoma City, OK. This was shot on a Canon 814 XLS using Kodak 500T Color Negative film. The audio track is original audio from the State Fair (actually two Sate Fairs; 2012 and 2013) and was recorded on a handheld Edirol R-09. Funny story about the little device and the film and audio track. At the end of the film you will hear my wife asking my son if he wants to ride this spaceship-looking ride that spins you around in a circle and makes you stick against the wall. The last thing you will hear is my voice saying, "Oh god!" Turns out I did ride the gravitron spaceship ride with my son - a couple of times - and it was pretty crazy. One of the things I had in my pocket at the time was the digital audio recorder which was sucked out of my pocket and into an opening along the wall beside me. I realized I was missing the recorder when I got off the ride and went back to ask if I could look for it. Thankfully the ride operator was nice enough to hold everyone in line while I searched the interior of the ride. Just when I was about to give up looking, I found it on the floor.
Some other notes:
I've been filming the State Fair for the past 7 or 8 years. Each year I will take a Super 8 camera and shoot a roll or two of film. One of these days I'm going to put together a compilation of all the State Fair footage into it's own short film.
This film stars my wife, my son, and my daughter. Voices you will hear include my wife, my son, and myself and a bunch of other State Fair sounds.
