SINOPSIS: This is probably the most popular Croatian fairytale, in most part because of its central character, Wee Tintilinkie, who is one of our children’s most beloved fairytale characters. The story tells the tale of how Rory, a young man, enters Stribor’s Forest to chop wood and instead comes back with a wife, Samantha, the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. Samantha however, is not all she seems and quickly takes over everyone’s lives. The newly married couple move in with Rory’s Mum and make her life a misery by turning her son against her. Things begin to look up when she meets Wee Tintilinkie and his brothers, the Brownies who agree to help make her son see sense. Unfortunately, things backfire and Rory’s Mum finds herself cast out into the cold to die. Wee Tintilinkie and the Brownies come to the rescue and organise a meeting with Stribor, the Lord of the Magic Forest. He listens to Rory’s Mum’s tale and is sympathetic to her plight by offering her a way out of her troubles. An offer she sadly can’t accept. Her decision miraculously sets everything right and she eventually forgives her son.
