Aviation has allways been, ever since I was a kid the most interesting line of work for me. I have wondered many times about choosing other jobs, but for me there is no way around aviation. This is my future.
One of the privileges of being a student of aviation is that I often can sit in the cockpit when I'm traveling. I brought with me my 5D mk ii with a preinstalled magic lantern software. Shooting raw is quite different from shooting jpeg sequence. I want to be able to retrieve as much information as possible out of the withes and darks so I very often end up exposing somewhere in between, where I neither can see information the blacks or the withe`s. I gamble a lot more with the images.. In post I turn down the highlights and bring up the dark. That allows me to get the maximum amount of dynamic range possible. The down-side is that it also brings up noise and brightness. There is really no way around that when you're filming in an environment like a cockpit. There is such a great contrast between the outside - and the inside light conditions.
