As we had all visited Athens before, our group decided to head for the Corinth area instead.
Our first stop was the Corinth Canal, a man-made channel that allows cargo ships to move from the Ionian Sea to the Aegean sea without having to transit the long way around.
From here we went to the small town of Ancient Corinth and the archaeological site of the Temple of Apollo. We really enjoyed walking around this site - it's amazing what a difference it makes when you are not somewhere where there are 20,000 other people.
And then to Nafplion, Greece’s first capital. What a lovely quaint town.
