Aly Rose, the first and so far only westerner to graduate from the Beijing Dance Academy, is the Head of the Dance Minor at Tisch School of the Arts, New York University where she currently teaches Choreography and Chinese Dance. She pioneered the first Theater & Dance Initiative in the United Arab Emirates and leads the annual Dancing with Cuba program based in Havana and Santiago for NYU each summer. In 2010 she directed and produced the only US-China artistic collaboration seen at the Shanghai Expo 2010. She also founded ONE Management Group LLC in 2010.
Having studied, graduated, and worked for over 12 years in China, Aly is fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin. She was appointed as an Asia 21 Young Leader by the Asia Society and is an active voting member of the National Committee of US- China Relations. She has performed at the United Nations, Asia Society, Sarah Lawrence College, and at the Ludwig Foundation in Cuba. She has lectured at the China Institute, NYU Abu Dhabi, and Claremont McKenna College as to the critical role the individual, corporation, and government play in establishing platforms for creativity and self-expression.
In China’s history, she was the first and only Westerner to graduate from Beijing Dance Academy. As a CCTV television hostess and commentator, she interviewed artists, discussed their work, and focused on China's both avant-garde and traditional art forms for the program, Center Stage. Her own work has been shown at the New York's Symphony Space Theater, Frederick Loewe Theatre and 14 St. Theater; in Beijing's Poly Plaza Theater and 798 Art Space, at Shanghai's Greenland Square; and in the United Arab Emirates in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi.
Finally, she is the Creator and Director of ONE at Central Park performed by Human Architecture.
