During a 2-week course in 2009, I was a part of "Astrofest", a class dedicated to conceptualising and developing ideas to present to a panel for Kalpaneya Yatre, a 10-day festival celebrating 2009, the year of astronomy, in November 2010.
I proposed to create a tangible interface application as a permanent exhibit to be placed in the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, in the form of a kiosk. This application aimed at encouraging young children to create their own stars, based on scientific facts, thus, learning about stars along the way. Stars interact with each other during the entire lifecycle, which is a sped-up version of their actual life cycle, therefore urging children to come back to look after their stars. At the end of a star's lifecycle, children can look for actual stars in the sky to name after their "homegrown" stars. This video was made to illustrate the functioning of the proposed concept.
