On Friday, December 20th, as students enjoyed their last day of school before winter break, the HHS Band successfully performed a series of wonderfully rehearsed Christmas songs during lunch block.
The holiday concert was a success according to Mr. Yavarow, the band’s director, whose goal was to “play and add festivity to the week”. After performing a concert a couple weeks ago, Mr. Yavarow hoped to give his students another opportunity to play.
Classes and students in lunch were invited to view the concert in the auditorium. Many students came to watch and support their fellow classmates performance during their lunch break.
The ensemble performed the concert three times. Each time they played the following five songs: Sleigh Ride, A Charlie Brown Christmas, Most Wonderful Time of the Year, the Polar Express, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
“It was nice to hear childhood favorites.” said Maura Maginnis, a senior at HHS who observed the performance. “They’re very talented. Mr. Yavarow has put together such a great performance. Everyone is so talented...They just keep getting better. I expect nothing less. They’re just perfect.”
