Our Escolta sisters share with you an exploratory journey through what we re-imagine to be the lives of our healers, the Babaylan. For centuries, the story of Babaylans was misinterpreted and stripped of its truth. After being accused of "witchcraft" hundreds of wom*n were burned at the stake or fed to alligators by the Spanish, but we refuse to believe that their spirit, strength, and abilities to heal have left this earth. In our world full of lost history, we ask "What is HERstory?" and we believe we can answer this together.
We wear our malongs as a healing scarf, dance, and share our experiences in tribute to the lives of Babaylan who have lived and died beFORe us and to leave a mark for those to come. We express stories that we feel connect us all as wom*n, as Filipin@, as Babaylans and as people that have always existed in various forms and energies. We vogue fiercely and love beyond belief (but believe it!). With our sisters we are giving, receiving, loving, and healing.

Maraming Salamat sa ating mga Ninuno. Ang mga namatay, pinatay, nagtago, iniba ang pangalan, at nasaktan para lang ma buhay tayo dito sa katawan at puso na 'to.
(Many thanks to our Ancestors. Those who died, who were killed, went into hiding, changed their names, and were hurt just so that we could live in this body and heart).
Peace and Blessings
