People attending Spoken Word Christian Ministries Clothes Giveaway and Health Fair on Saturday, Dec. 21 got more than some free clothes and health check-ups, they got the gift of love, help, and hard work from the team members of Spoken Word Christian Ministries.
The dedicated volunteers and church members were there to give clothes, shoes, and jackets to individuals who may have not been able to purchase clothes this holiday season due to personal set-backs.
The event also featured a health fair, where health professionals, who were also members of Spoken Word Christian Ministries’ Outreach Team, checked visitors’ blood pressure and glucose levels. In addition, visitors were also tested for HIV if they decided they wanted to partake in that service as well.
There was also a representative from the Community Medical Clinic of Aiken County giving out free information about their clinic, which specializes in improving the quality of life for the uninsured and working poor of Aiken County.
“Just watching the happiness of the people being happy and knowing that they don’t have to pay for anything,” is the greatest achievement of this event, said Minister Debra Braxton, Senior Minister of Spoken Word Christian Ministries. “Everything is free.”
