This is my fourth full videoclip, that I made in two half days together with Hunter Harmony in November 2013. One scene was taken at the popular quarter Kabusunzu, where King Money lives, and for the other scene we went to the upscale Kiyovu area in Kigali. I used my primitive but effective dolly for enhancing movement...it worked very well!
Abdellatif Haridintwari a.k.a. King Money and his partner Paccy Gakimane a.k.a. Solozo are two young dancers from Kigali who started rapping and singing as well, and recently formed "New Life Star".
Q: How did you come to form the group “New Life Star”, and what doe it mean?
A: New Life Star is us two together, myself Abdalla, a.k.a. King Money, and my buddy Paccy, a.k.a. Solozo, a.k.a. King Forest. We are a duo of dancers who are part of the Unity Boys Dance Group. Actually we started as dancers long before we begun singing and rapping. Both myself and Solozo wanted to do something different because we felt that we had the talent to sing, rap and dance, and to compose our own music tunes and songs.
“New Life Star” means a new shining experience in life, which is what we want to give to our fans and other music lovers, in Rwanda and across the globe...
Q: How can you describe your style?
A: Our style is mainly rhythmic and composed on danceable tunes. I do the rapping and Solozo does the singing...Our style is a mix of afrobeat, popmusic with a hiphop twist, and of course with a funny streak... we are a happy go lucky lot...
We tried out a fresh new young style, that we called the “Injyana Mikino” style in kinyarwanda, that wants to be youthful and jestful as well. Yeah, we are jokers, as you can hear in our Akadance song.
Q: Tell us about your future plans and projects.
A: We want to develop our style further, and aim to become number one in this country... We must continue to be creative and inventive, just like our name “New Life Star” suggests..
We have just completed our first videoclip with the SuperSystem, called “Ihorere”. It tells a simple story of hardship and good luck, that defines people’s lives. It means “all will be allright”.
