This video was made as a result of a trip I took to Beijing with friends in China during 2013. I wanted to compile a "motion video" experience, based on a limited amount of images and still be able to capture the place, the mood and the sense of discovery by the people in front of my lens. The style lends itself to very efficient storytelling, the resemblance of memories as fleeting moments while providing a powerful feeling of energy, texture and excitement. Edited like a music video, the result I think is interesting to watch even though the rate of editing is quite high. Its the impression of "temporal motion" that fascinates me which is similar to stop motion photography or time-lapse! I'm looking forward to reading your comments if you care to take the time.
I shot it entirely using stills (no video) using Canon my 5D2 & 5D3 cameras. This video is an experiment in style, technique and story telling. I created the track in Logic ProX and edited the video in Final Cut ProX using footage generated from files I processed in Aperture and After Effects. The "aged" and effected footage was generated from Expressions I wrote in After Effects with the final grade being applied in FCPx.
