Christmas and the gospel from the viewpoint of the beloved disciple, John: Please note that “John the Disciple”, and “John the Apostle”, and “John the Writer of the last book of the Bible, Revelation” is indeed and in fact the same person. He was often referred to as "the Beloved Disciple" and he referred to himself as "the disciple that the Lord loves."
John gives us a new perspective on Christ’s ministry from a "look back” view, adding clarity to the things that once appeared enigmatic. John's gospel was written in retrospect. 32 years after the ascension, John “the most wise theologian” turns as if to take his last view, of Christ and the gospel in light of the first century church in a Greco-Roman world.
