Rachmaninoff composed this epic concerto between 1900-1901. It marked his recovery from a lengthy bout of depression. In the First Movement, the music reflects some of his personal torment during this depression; although these dramatic sections are often counterbalanced by uplifting parts.
I filmed this as a concept video; as I was excited by the idea of recording with an entire orchestra on backing track. I used the CD accompaniment from Music Minus One for the 'ghost' orchestra; which is the Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra.
It was a bit of a challenge, though definitely an enjoyable one. I hope you enjoy it too.
