from Tropic of Pulse:
"...The main video of the exhibition, The Depth of the Breath is the Length of One Note (2009, 3:51 mins), was shot inside the gallery a week prior to the show’s opening. It features a large-scale, site-specific "timepiece": a life-sized action figure of an astronaut is suspended mid-air in the gallery's ground floor, its body holding roughly half a ton of sand that steadily flows through a star-shaped hole in its helmet. A hole has been equally drilled in the floor exactly beneath that of the helmet, so that the sand pours through the floor to reach basement level, where it accumulates. The duration of the video corresponds to the time needed for the entirety of the sand to flow out of the astronaut’s helmet; by determining the duration of yet another video screened in the ground floor, One Note, it realizes its function as hourglass."
