New to Redemption Church? New to church in general? Unsure about what to expect if you visit on a Sunday? Here are a few questions you may have – but if your question isn’t covered here, please don’t hesitate to ask!
I hear that you meet in a school. How does that work?
Yes! We meet at Cedarcrest High School for Sunday morning worship. Our main worship gathering takes place in the theater, while Redemption Kids (nursery-5th grade) meet in the Commons and a few classrooms. We make security a top priority – we ensure all of our children’s areas are carefully staffed by diligent and qualified volunteers, and we use a computerized check-in/check-out system for dropping off and picking up your kids.
What should I wear?
We are pretty firm believers that God loves us just the way we are, and that time, place, and appearance aren’t nearly as important as the heart when it comes to worship. So, what you wore on Saturday should be just fine for Sunday.
What will happen?
You’ll probably be met with a smile and a handshake (or three). Once the service starts, we will sing some songs about God and what He means to us. You will hear teaching from one of our pastors about Jesus and how He is relevant to our lives today. Once a month we take communion, which is an ancient, simple practice affirming and celebrating the life-giving death and resurrection of Jesus. We will take an offering, which is important to us as we seek to be obedient stewards of all that God has given us. Finally, afterwards you will have the chance to talk and pray with one of our elders if you would like. In all of this, you will have the choice to participate or simply observe, as much as you feel comfortable – our promise to you is that you won’t be pressured into anything or singled out as new.
