This video shows how people in Tirana (the capital city of Albania) celebrate the New Year 2014. An incredible fireworks show that gets more and more intense as it progresses and lasts forever in the observers’ minds.
The big difference when compared to the fireworks in cities like London, Sydney or Dubai is that in Tirana everything you see stems from the enthusiasm of simple citizens who launch fireworks from their balconies, house rooftops, and gardens.
Not a single firework in the video is merit of the state or of the city’s municipality and the only non-individual effort comes from a couple of hotels in the city center.
While the organized firework shows in other cities known for such events take place in a limited part of the city-center (Big Ben, Sydney Opera House etc.), in Tirana you can see an entire city covered by a rain of colorful lights.
It’s a curious example of the fact that there is no economic strength on earth that can make more impact than people’s enthusiasm and inspiration.
