Hands Across the Planet to Poor Youth is a 501-c3 non-profit foundation. The foundation began in 2001 after, Michael Belay, its founder, returned to his native country Ethiopia after many years. He had originally come to the U.S. as a refugee from the Ethiopian Civil War (1974-1991) and felt blessed to have created a life here, but upon seeing how his country had been destroyed, he made it a goal to help rebuild. He has made many efforts in the past, including, a small school, water wells, ambulances; but, with more people and the population of orphans being one of the largest in the world (4.6 million), there needs to be more efforts towards education so the next generation will be capable of rebuilding what was lost. We are building a new and improved school. HELP US BUILD!!
