A biomarker is a specific change in a normal or disease process in the body. Biomarkers are like a "fingerprint" on a molecular level. They can help us personalize medical treatments for individual patients, improving health while reducing costs. Currently, there are no national standards or best practices for biomarker development. The National Biomarker Development Alliance (NBDA) is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to creating an evidence-based, end-to-end process that will give us a predictable path to successful biomarker development.
