On the 27th and the 28th of December, following the Christmas high-water, some Dutch paddlers paddled the upper Lesse in the Belgian Ardennes.
The Lesse is class II-III, runs through a beautiful forest and is a fun river with lots of opportunities to surf. Difficulties are mostly caused by trees and occasionally low bridges. Especially the first section, upstream from the village Lesse can be tricky for unexperienced paddlers.
Access to the river is restricted to members of the Belgian kayak federation. Foreigners can easily obtain this membership by joining a Belgian kayak club.
