Ice, fire, chrysanthemum flowers, gold paint, cloth, string, ash, video monitor / Sound – Casio CTK-3000 Synthesizer, BOSS SP-303, Stagg Acoustic Guitar, RP-50 Effect Pedal, Zoom R-16 Recorder
Sunshine Wall was made during an artist residency at Taipei Artist Village (TAV) in Taipei Taiwan 2010. The video uses the wall as a metaphor for Life and Death, and the apparent separation between the two can be seen by the degeneration of a material and the re-birth of another. This work corresponded to the Unknown Gifts installation exhibited by Nicolay and Kang at TAV which explored the Taiwanese funerary paper sculpture culture and peoples responses to the afterlife, rituals and superstitions associated within.
