Somewhere during Festive 500 2012 my tired tortured mind I was wondering if it would be physically possible to do Festive 500 in one big ride and “get it over with”.
For a year I had chewed on that idea, I convinced a few friends to try it with me. And that’s where this brilliant (and by brilliant, i mean stupid) idea to ride Festive 500 'in one go’ came from.
To make this ride ‘easier’ we figured that we'ld start from somewhere that would be about 500 km from home and ride back, preventing us from taking shortcuts if things would get hard. That somewhere became the Eiffel tower in Paris. Only later the route turned out to coincide with the prevailing wind that was being blown up by the rough winter storm that was forecast for that day.
A few days before we left a photographer and filmer decided to roughly follow our route by car to capture the craziness going down.
