This is a school assignment (Digital Design & Development at Howest University).
The task was to create a new and refreshing ident for a television network.
We had to produce a package consisting of a logo animation, partial bumper, evening overview and a season montage.
The logo animation is based on the core idea of creating an environment consisting of primitive objects, and to make these objects feel alive and conscious of their surroundings through their movements in space and reactions to neighboring objects.
Inspired by Pastoe's furniture and minimalist housing, we decided to create a white-on-white environment. By creating such an environment, the feel of the ident is friendly and refreshing.
VH1 uses 3 categories: Shows, Celebrities and Music. Each is represented with a color. We gave this function throughout the whole ident, making the viewer easily realize what category the program is about. (As seen in the overlay bumper and evening overview). In the logo animation and season montage, these three colors pop up during several animations and important interactions. This makes these colors feel more important and gives them a function.
This project was made with After Effects CC and Cinema 4D Lite only. It's a fun task to discover and make good use of the restrictions of the Cinema 4D version that comes bundled with Adobe's Creative Cloud.
