Students in Hong Kong have designed a special suit to encourage teenagers around the city to care more for the elderly.
‘Eldpathy’ is a student-founded program which has brought this specially designed suit to Hong Kong. The name comes from combining the two words 'elderly' and 'empathy'. The suit includes a jacket with lead bars, special weights to tie onto ankle and wrist joints, a pair of glazed goggles, and straps that impede movement. When young people put it on, they experience what it feels like to be old and weak. Today, Hong Kong is home to one of the fastest ageing populations in Asia. And it's hoped that with programs like "Eldpathy", young people will be encouraged to pay more attention to the elderly.
