Sample 1: An intimate duet between Isabel Ball and Alyx Henigman,Heather Stewart’s “to quiet the marks” considers the ways in which Western healthcare systems require women and other vulva owning individuals to absorb and dismiss physical trauma within a medical context. Featuring sound by the late Marc Bartissol aka dull and lighting design by Harrison Pearse Burke, the work exists in an environment intended to stimulate sonic, visual, kinesthetic, and material senses. Noisefloor aims to extrapolate this multisensory immersive experience to a large, proscenium space and will feature the talents of 5 of the same team members who collaborated on “to quiet the marks” including Heather Stewart, Harrison Pearse Burke, Alyx Henigman, Isabel Ball, and Allie James.

Sample 2: This studio footage represents an early stage of the movement research process in the development of Noisefloor. Courtney Swain can be heard live looping instrumentation and vocals in the background. Her live compositional choices come in direct response to the dancers as they move. The footage in this sample was captured during a winter residency with Courtney before Noisefloor had been fully cast. The final work will include six dancers and we are planning to set this duet on three couples. Keeping the cast small for the first rehearsal was an intentional choice to help support the development of a workflow between Courtney, Heather, and the dancers.
