1. Performance by Dirk Larsen.
A student at the Royal College of Art, Dirk Larsen introduced me to the Environmental Media Department in the college from which I borrowed the video camera and where I subsequently edited the tapes. Dirk frequently performed with another artist, Thom Puckey, as the duo Reindeer Werk. The works on the walls were donated by artists for the auction held at the end of the festival which raised funds for the Chile Solidarity Campaign.
2. Chilean artist Roberto Matta creates a work in front of an audience at the festival.
Roberto Matta, the distinguished Chilean painter, was a great supporter of the festival and may have donated this work, which he made on site in the exhibition space at the Royal College of Art, to the fund raising auction.
3. Discussion on making political posters.
Participants include John Phillips and Pippa Smith of Paddington Print Shop.
John and Pippa, of the radical print works Paddington Print Shop in London, led a workshop on making political posters. The main participant in the discussion is Martin Walker of the Red Dragon Print collective.
4. Dance performances
Participants include Betsy Gregory, Craig Givens and Martha Grogan.
While three of the individual dancers shown in these sequences have been identified, it has not been possible to identify which company is performing. Dancers who took part in the festival were associated with several companies including the London Contemporary Dance Theatre, Second Stride and others.
