A rock finds love at the seaside.
What a fantastic weekend spent hiking through nettles ascending Oliver's Mount, rock-pool crab casting and indulging the great British seaside; chip butties n'all!
This was our submission to the 2013 Virgin Media Shorts film festival, and a glorious excuse to leave the office and hit the beach. Angela Clare at the helm, with James Parsons at my side and Rob Wingfield dangling a mic over us: a great team working together to make a funky little short.
Animating an inanimate object was a tricksy hobbit: getting him on the move and hunting for love. Overwhelmingly, the kind folks of Scarborough were sincere and accommodating: letting us use their shorefront shops, prams, fairgrounds and asking us to leave their amusement arcades! Guerrilla filmmaking eat your heart out.
A thoroughly enjoyed shoot with salt-of-the-earth people, I look forward to the 2014 entry - and prize.
