The Soul's Tale is the first of three movements in my symphony "Native to Where."
In the highlands of Chiapas, the Zinacantecos believe that our souls have 13 animal parts. If even one part strays or gets lost, you will fall ill. Then the community must organize a curing ceremony to climb to the highest mountaintop to search for and recall the piece of your soul.
