I am especially proud of this story.
In the summer of 2013, Hawaii Women in Filmmaking held a week-long intensive summer workshop.
My two daughters and two of my students attended. I was impressed with what I saw and suggested to Vera Zambonelli the Executive Director that we put together a story for Hiki No.

We brought in a camera and gear over several days, shot interviews and b-roll.
Aisis Chen also provided a lot of great b-roll and stills of the girls working.
Caitlin Alvior (MMS, Green Track 8-2013) who was attending the workshop agreed to work on the story.
She wrote and edited the piece over her fall break.
Since we began working on the story before she started high school, PBS Hawaii agreed to allow this as a joint effort between Mililani Middle and Miliani High School, where Caitlin now attends.
Caitlin's film "A Dream Passed On" was selected to show at the 2013 Hawaii International Film Festival and this story was selected to air on PBS Hawaii's Hiki No "Best of Fall 2013" show.
I am so proud of her!
